Koshirae Edo Period |
| Click to see Images | Signature: N/A Year Made: Edo Forging Pattern: N/A Tempering Pattern: N/A Dimensions: Saya: 29 13/16", Tsuka: 10 1/8", Tsuba: 2 31/32", Fuchi: 1 17/32" Mountings: The tsuba and fuchikashira are iron with nice, dark patina. The moon menuki appears to me silver and the leaf menuki appears to be brass. Overall Condition: The saya is in overall good condition with mostly minor abrasions. There is one scratch that runs between two ribs that is down to the wood. This could be easily filled with a little lacquer. The ito is still in good condition but showing some ware at the top of some of the twist overlaps and at the kashira end knot. The same beneath is in vary good condition. The is a hole that goes through the tsuka just below the kashira. It appears to have been deliberately drilled there. The kashira has a little rust abrasion.

Ju Nin Miura Kunimitsu (Hawley KUN536) Year Made: 1940s Forging Pattern: Ko-Itame Tempering Pattern: Gonome with nie Dimensions: Nagasa: 25 1/8", Nakago: 8 1/5", Mihaba: 1 1,8", Sakihaba: 7/8", Kasane: 1/4", Sori: 5/8" Mountings: WW II Gunto mounts with one piece copper habaki and no tsuba Overall Condition: The blade is in excellent condition with recent polish. The saya is sound but has lacquer chipping and scratches. The tsuka and fittings are in great condition. Excellent blade for remounting. Sendai Kunimitsu was a Raikujin Jumei Tosho that made swords for the Army in the traditional manner. Typically know as "Star Stamp" smiths, these were the smiths authorized to forge with Tamahagane in the traditional manner during WW2. This particularly blade does not have the start stamp but was forged in the traditional manner. Priced well below market value due to missing gunto tsuba. |

Long Early Katana |
| Click to see Images | Signature: Kune???? Year Made: Early Edo (1600s/1700s) Forging Pattern: Ko-Itame Tempering Pattern: Suguha Dimensions: Nagasa: 27 7/8", Nakago: 8", Mihaba: 1 5/16", Sakihaba: 1", Kasane: 9/32", Sori: 3/4" Mountings: The saya and the tsuka are both beyond repair. The shakudo fuchi is in good condition. The one piece copper habaki is still nice and usable. Overall Condition: There is surface rust, pitting and discoloration. The condition of the blade makes an accurate assessment difficult. There are a number of small nicks in the edge towards the kissaki. The chips in the edge, scratches and the rust spots will probably polish out This is a very strong blade with a nice large kissaki. Would be a good restoration project and priced accordingly. |
