Hand Forged Gendaito
Signature:  Mumei
Year Made:  1940s

Forging Pattern: Tight Mokume
Tempering Pattern: Suguha Midare
Dimensions:  Blade Length:  25.4 inches  Nakago: 7.8 inches  5.5 mm thick and 24.5 mm wide at Hamachi
Mountings:  Wartime civilian mounts.  These swords were typically adapted for military use by wrapping the scabbard with leather, this one is rather unusual as it is wrapped with a burlap type material.
Overall Condition:  Very good.  Some hazing and stable rust to the original wartime polish.  Hamon is bright with nie but is difficult to photograph due to hazing.  The handle is original, wrap is frayed in areas.  A nice stout gendaito with good balance.
