Signature: Mumei Year Made: 1500s Forging Pattern: Mokume Tempering Pattern: Gunome Midare in Nie Dimensions: Blade Length: 17.9 inches Nakago: 19.25 inches 8 mm thick and 30 mm wide at Hamachi Mountings: Original Saya and copper habaki Overall Condition: Good in old polish. Some surface scratches and rust. Nice heavy naginata with an uncut tang. Older naginatas tend to be heavier and more stout than those made in the Edo period for battlefield use. This is a nicely forged heavy naginata with a vibrant grain and hamon. No visible forging flaws.
