Nice 1934 Pattern Shin-Gunto Mounts with Hefty Shinto Wakizashi

Signature:Shinano (no) Kami Nobuyoshi.
Year Made: Shinto (1620s-early 1700s)
Forging Pattern: Mokume/Itame mix.
Tempering Pattern: Gnome midare.
Dimensions: Blade Length: 21.875 inches Nakago: 5.25 inches 7 mm thick and 30 mm wide at Hamachi
Mountings: '34 pattern army shin-gunto mounts in very good condition. Nice gold washed copper habaki, matching numbers on seppa and tsuba. Very thick and heavy seppa, high quality mounts. Retainer is broken on tsuka otherwise tsuka is is very good shape, tight and complete wrap, large nodule samé and braided sarute. Saya is black aluminum with a couple of scratches, otherwise in good shape. Mounts overall appear to be matching and original to the sword.
Overall Condition: Fair, A beefy Shinto Wakizashi that is well forged. Many scratches, some deep but we polished the hada some on one side and the boshi on one side and there is a nice prominent hada under the scratch and plenty of boshi for a polish. There were two generations of Shinto smiths that signed this way. They are both ranked fairly highly so research and a shinsa would be necessary to show wether the mei is genuine. All in all an ancestral sword that would polish very nicely in a very high quality set of shin-gunto mounts, a nice addition for your collection
