Long Shinto Katana with BoHi

Year Made:  1600s

Forging Pattern: Mokume
Tempering Pattern: Suguha in Nioi with Ko-Nie
Dimensions:  Blade Length:  27.8 inches  Nakago: 7.7 inches 6.5 mm thick and 30 mm wide at Hamachi
Mountings:
 39 pattern shin gunto with all matching fittings, missing the spring clip.  Silver foiled habaki.
Overall Condition:  Very Good in wartime polish.  Some surface scratches and haze.  This sword should polish out very nicely.  It has a wide think hamon of nioi sprinkled with ko-nie.  No visible forging flaws.  A very nicely balanced sword that was once owned by the founder of a local Kenjitsu school.
