Mountings: Gassan Sadakazu
(1836-1918) was awarded the title of Teishitsu Gigeiin (Imperial Arts and
Crafts Expert) by Emporer Meiji in 1890. He was one of the first seven
arts to receive this title. Sadakazu is responsible for keeping the
Gassan school in existence during to early-mid Meiji period when most sword
smiths were forced to give up their trade because of lack of demand for
swords.
The full court koshirae and
shirasaya in mint condition, the lacquer work is very good quality.
The habaki is a one piece gold washed.
Condition: The sword and koshirae are excellent in condition
and quality. The lacquer work is very high quality. The
shirasaya is a little older but in very fine condition. This is a very
beautifull show piece. |
